A visit to St.Isaac's Cathedral - originally the city's main church and the largest cathedral in Russia.
Now it houses a large museum. The exterior of the Cathedral barely hints on its breathtaking interior adorned with gold, semiprecious stones and mosaics, oil paintings.
The gilded dome of the Cathedral dominates the skyline of the city. The former principal Orthodox cathedral of the country is one of our most visited city landmarks.
St. Isaac's Cathedral is the forth tallest cathedral in the world, after the Cathedrals of St. Peter in Rome, St. Paul in London and St. Maria in Florence.

We saw the golden dome of St. Isaac’s from everywhere in the center city of St. Petersburg. and finally we visited it.The church had beautiful stained glass windows with lots of gold leaf. Its altar was magnificent. Daniela, June ,2009
