Set in magnificent gardens, Peterhof, the former imperial summer residence is reminiscent of Versailles and its fountains are one of the area's most famous tourist attractions. You will visit one of seven of its existing former palaces – the Catherine Wing.
While the palace was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis, it has been restored to its full splendor. Its chandeliers, paintings and other exhibits were fortunately removed before the German occupation.
The diversity of fountains in the park is surprising - from monumental ensembles like the Samson Cascade to the ever popular Joke Fountains, including one which sprays anyone who steps on a particular paving stone.
Particularly impressive is the fact that the landscapers and garden designers who worked on the estate managed to overcome the unfavorable weather conditions of the northern climate to create a lovely landscape of flowers and greenery.

We really enjoyed visiting Peterhof. The fountains are absolutely beautiful. If you go, consider taking the hydrofoil at least one way. David and Rebecca, June 2009

The park is well worth the visit. The Nazis demolished the place and the Wind during the war. I was very impressed that the Soviets could rebuild the same beauty after the war.
